Free EPA Certified Lead Renovator Training Course

Delaware County Public Health will be sponsoring a free EPA Certified Lead Renovator 8-Hr. Training Course on Thursday, April 4th, 2019 at 8am. The training will be held at the Hamden Town Hall, located at 37029 St Rt. 10, Hamden, NY 13782. The Cornell Cooperative extension of Albany, an EPA-approved training provider, is conducting the class.

Common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition can create hazardous lead dust by disturbing lead-based paint into the environment, which can be harmful to adults and children. To protect against this risk, the EPA issued the Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule. Under the rule, beginning April 22, 2010, firms (which include public and private entities, landlords, self-employed persons, etc.) performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and kindergartens built before 1978 must be EPA- or state-certified and must use certified renovators who follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.

This Lead Renovator class, sponsored by Delaware County Public Health, will include all course materials, a manual, refreshments, lunch and a certificate of completion. Free tuition offered on a first come basis, with preference given to Delaware County residents, businesses, rental property owners, home improvement contractors and their employees.

Register today, space is limited for this one-time class. To reserve your seat, you can register online here, call Al Kleinberger at 518-765-3529, or email ark249@cornell.edu. For more information, contact Kali Murphy, Program Coordinator at kali.murphy@co.delaware.ny.us
